much ado about no thing

"Enlightenment" does not exist

phenomenally at all,

and "we" cannot have it---

because it is what-we-are!

  1. We cannot HAVE what we ARE. To HAVE something is to be split off from it, separate from it, there is ME and WHAT I HAVE. Duality.

I can be what I am but I can't have what I am.

Like I can't have my cake and eat it too.

I can't have my enlightenment and be it too.

When I try to have it, I'm split off from it. Not split off in reality (that is impossible), but split off in my distorted perception, split off in my imagination and seeming experience.

Thanks for this post Tom, it is a lightning bolt.

  2. Hi Colleen, glad to hear that this quote STRIKES home.

Personally, I'm not too comfortable with the pointer "be what you are", although I guess it has its uses.

It kind of reminds me of "Be - all that you can be - in the Army!"

    Can "we" NOT be what-we-are?
