I

Absence of all concepts is pre-existing.

  1. I'm not sure what that means but it reminds me of a book I'm reading by Jeff Foster called "An Extraordinary Absence."

  2. Hello Diane, I'm glad that you mentioned Jeff's book title; I hadn't thought of the connection yet myself. I would say that we're pointing to the same No-thing. On page 6 he writes that, "These words in this book are pointing to something very simple...The seeming paradox at the heart of creation:
    Absence is presence.
    Emptiness is form.
Awareness is not separate from its content.
And on page 7, "When all the concepts in the world are seen to be just concepts,...what is there?

  3. Diane, since you are familiar with Lao Tzu, maybe these lines from his first chapter will help clarify what I'm suggesting. "The Tao that can be named(conceptualized),is not the true Tao"(but a limited overlay). And, "Heaven and earth begin in the unnamed"(prior to something conceivable that COULD be named BY someone).
In present day terms, we can't deny that "something" is here, but we are not separate from "this" to know(conceptualize) WHAT this is.
